Scroll Lock?

What purpose is the scroll lock key on the keyboard. What does it actually
do? I see no difference whether it is engaged or not.
 
Select cell A1, press down arrow and you will see that
the cell will change to A2, A3 and so on
No do the same with scroll lock on
A1 will still be selected so if you scroll down to A500, without
scroll lock A500 will be selected but with scroll lock A1 is still selected
cell.

Not really the wrong ng. Excel is one of the few programs where the
scroll lock key makes a difference in navigation. See the other reply.
