I am converting from Novell to Windows 2000. I am testing
a logon script to map a shared drive as drive "G". I have
created a testOU and created a test account called test1.
I createrd my test script call testlogon.bat. This file
is in a shared folder called scriptfiles. The group
Everyone has has all the needed rights to the shared
folder. The way I set this up is, I went to the
properties of the TestOU, then to the Group Policy tab.
Selected the Default Domain Policy andclicked edit. From
the Group Policy window I went to User Configuration then
Windows Seetings and selected Scripts (Logoo/Logoff).
Then selected Logon and added thwe logon script that I
created. After saving these changes, I logon with the
test account and the script does not run. I have test the
script and it does work. What step am I missing.

Thanks,

Sburt

Either configure the DNS numbers in DHCP so all clients get them. Or you
can just manually and the DNS numbers in each client tcpip properties. Then
at a command prompt run: ipconfig /all to see if they have the proper DNS.

This was a gotcha for us when we first went off Novell to AD since we never
had a DNS server.

Hi All,

I have the same problem the GPOs that I create for an OU
do not apply, but if I recreate the same GPO at the Domain
root it works. So far I have not been able to find a
solution to this problem. If you find one PLEASE email it
to me, I would be so grateful. Thanks
