Hello:

We use a customizes version of salesforce.com in our company. The
customization consists of runnign javascripts which are used by users
to generate word documents based on templates.

We are running into problems on certain computers where internet
explorer keeps giving error "script initialization failed" when user
runs the respective script. We have added the site to the trusted zone
and have lowered security in the trusted zone to the lowest level using
custom settings and it still does not work. We have replicated the IE
settings on desktops that work to the problem systems and still we get
this "script initialization failed" error. The IE version of both the
working and non-working systems are IE 6, sp2.

I would appreciate any insights on troubleshooting or debugging this
issue. Thanks.

Hi Abdou,
It is stab in the dark, first try to see the Privileges for the users of
these machines, is it allowed for them to download and use ActiveX on these
machines.
Try to open Hosts file in a Notepad and see if there is any refrence to the
pre-mentioned website and remove it from it but be careful o open the right
HOSTS file not the one with .SAM leave this as is please.
Also you can rename the HOSTS file to HOSTS.OLD and reboot the machine have
the problem.
Read this article on this link:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/workshop/components/activex/safety.asp
See if the security settings is Right on these machines and the user enabled
activeX on this machine and the fireewall settings.
HTH.
Please let us know your findings.
Regards,
nass
