Script for attachments

Surely there is a way to set up Outlook 2000 so that when I have a
message highlighted with an attachment, I have only to strike one key
for a window to pop up that will ask me where I wish to save the
attachment(s).

I've found numerous scripts for automatically saving attachments, but
nothing like what I want, which would seem to be so simple.

Thanks for any feedback!

You can't assign macros to keyboard shortcuts in Outlook like you can with
Word or Excel. You can, however, map macros to custom menus/toolbars, and
those can be accessed with the ALT key + the & assigned letter.

Otherwise, if you have the preview pane open, you can see the attachments in
the header (or in the body for Rich Text messages); right-click an
attachment and choose "Save As...".

According to documents on MS Support, I can create a macro and put in in
the toolbar. When putting it in the toolbar I need to be sure to put an
ampersand in front of the letter that I wish to use in combination with
the Alt key in order to invoke that macro.

So, now my question is how do I create a macro for Saving Attachments,
which I can put on the toolbar and invoke using a keystroke (say, Alt+w)?

This may sound like a really dumb question, but why don't you just customize
the toolbar to add the Save Attachments command and rename its caption to
add an ampersand for whatevedr you want to use as your Alt+ hotkey? I sure
wouldn't fool with a code solution to duplicate something Outlook already
does from the menu.

I tried to do that but I don't understand how to change the name of the
command so that the shortcut will be assigned to a different key.

Tried to do what? The newsgroup interface you are using apparently does not
quote earlier messages in the thread, making your latest message so short on
detail that you risk not getting the answer you're looking for. Please take
the time to quote the original message.

Sorry, I was responding through DevelopersDex, which apparently doesn't
attach previous postings. So they are provided below.

The issue was, however, that I don't know how to change the name of a
command that I have added to the Toolbar, such that I may chose a
different
shortcut key in connection with the Alt key (prior to which shortcut key
I
would place the ampersand).

With the View | Toolbars | Customize dialog open, right-click the button or
menu command you want to change.
