When your computer is configured to use Web view and you
open a folder, you may receive the following error
message:

Internet Explorer Script Error

An error has occurred in the script on this page.

Line: line number
Char: character number
Error: error
Code: code number

Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if any of your hypertext template
(.htt) files are damaged.
RESOLUTION
When you finish the steps in each of the following
sections, test to determine if the issue is resolved. If
the issue is resolved, do not continue to the remaining
sections. If the issue is not resolved, continue to the
next section.
Extract the Appropriate .htt File
If you receive script errors only when you open one of
the following folders, extract the appropriate
related .htt file from the Ie4shl95.cab file for Internet
Explorer 4.0 for Windows 95:

Folder Web view .htt file
Control Panel Controlp.htt
My Computer Mycomp.htt
Printers Printers.htt

the following steps:
Open the appropriate folder.
On the View menu, click Customize This Folder, click
Remove Customization, click Next, and then click Finish.
Close the folder.

I am having the same problem. It started when I upgraded MS Office 97 to
Office XP. I have tried nearly everything but I haven't tried yet what you
have suggested below because I didn't know what files to extract and where
to put them after I did. I did know that I can use my WIN98SE disk plus the
SFC command to extract the files but which ones.
This scripting error seems harmless and yet particularly annoying!
