Shift + prt scr (in set of 6 keys between main and numeric keyboards) for
the window alone, or just prt scr for whole desktop. This places the
picture on the Clipboard. Paste in appropriate program like Wordpad.

One way is to use a screen capture utility like PrintKey 2000
http://www.webtree.ca/newlife/printkey_info.htm
When you open the PrintKey app by pressing the PrintScreen key you can set
the Options->Define delay for get Rectangle" to about 5 secs. After that is
set then click on the Rectangle icon. You will have 5 secs to press the key
combo that will bring up the Alt+Tab window. Wait until you see a cross
hairs and then position it at the upper left corner of the window you wish
to capture and hold down the left mouse button while dragging the rectangle
to the dimensions you wish captured. when you let go of the button PrintKey
will open with a snapshot of the area. You can then click the Save icon and
save in your choice of graphic format.

You could do it the way the two have answered you I suppose, but there
are freeware programs that capture & save either your screen or your
present window, depending on what setting you tell it. I use one by
"Gadwin". Do a Google search for the Gadwin website, or look for:
"PrintScreen26_Setup.exe".

It will save it as a .JPG, or I think you have the option to save as a
..BMP file. (BMP files take up a huge amount of bytes compared to a
JPG).

P.S. if you do get this program, don't have it load up with boot-up
unless you plan on using it a lot. You can still fire it up any time.
