I press alt+ PrtScrn and then Ctrl+ V and nothing happen. It's not taking
the picture. What's the procedure for screenshooting in Vista?

Use the Vista Snipping Tool -- more options than the PrtScrn method.
You can google for more details or search Vista's help.

Easiest way is with the 'Snipping Tool' found in accessories.
You can capture full screen, windows or free-form rectangles with it..

I find it so useful I have a shortcut on my desktop and a link in my quick
start task bar.

Hope this helps.

prtscn for whole desktop

alt | prtscn for Window

Then open paint and go to edit | paste

Try using Shft+PrtScren for Full Screen Capture, or Alt+Prntscrn for Active
Window Capture to take the picture.
Then, open Windows Paint, and press Ctrl+V.
That should give you what you need.

Faststone Capture 5.3 - last freeware version -

http://www.oldapps.com/fast_stone_capture.php

- IMO the best ever for screen capture - has small magnified window so you
can select pixel to pixel. Use a combination of arrow movements and Return
to capture exactly what you want and paste straight to Word or whatever,
Some simple graphics and text facilities. If you need more to edit more
download Paint.net

To all the know-it-alls who recommended using the snipping tool:
please remember that SOME folks are using Vista Home Basic, and that
it doesn't have that tool.

I'm certainly not a know-it-all. I admit I didn't know the snipping tool
was missing from Vista Home Basic. Thanks for the info.

Others have suggested alternative programs or the use of Paint, which
wasn't mentioned by the original poster.
