Hi!
Hey, I'm looking for a way to run this lockdown program after x
minutes of inactivity on Win98. Does anybody know of good freeware
that will do this? I was thinking that a screensaver that would run
an arbitrary program when it is activated would do the trick...

Thanks!

I think there is one called "active saver" or "activesaver" that will either
logoff, poweroff, or reboot the computer. it will also run a program.
unfortunately the link where i downloaded it from is dead. but i'm sure you
can find it by google.

Clint,

Why not just copy the PROGRAM.EXE file to PROGRAM.SCR and make that your
screensaver?

ActiveSaver.

I think it is buyware these days, but I will put a freeware build into
alt.binaries.freeware.

Why not create your own using Flash and actionscript!

Thanks, that worked great!

BTW, the program I'm using (and which I highly recommend) is Black
Screen 1.16 - http://www.rjlsoftware.com/software/security/black/ .
It's particularly good in my case, as it presents a very uninteresting
black screen to little fingers, and doesn't even bring up a password
dialog box. It disables Ctrl-Alt-Delete and Alt-F4, and takes up a
total footprint of about 300KB.

Oh yeah, and it's freeware of course :)

Anyways, thanks for your help!

Hi,
A screensaver in Windows is just an EXE file renamed to have a SCR extension,
so it gets listed in the screensaver list of your desktop properties window.
The timer to start a screensaver after x minutes is just part of the windows
OS. So you can activate any program you want by 1) renaming it to .SCR, 2)
putting it in your windows directory, 3) choosing it in the screensaver tab.
