I'm always one for a good joke. You could always use a paint program to
create a screensized bitmap of a blue screen, complete with "technobabble"
about the nature of the fault, etc.
Then use any of the numerous picture slideshow screensavers to run the
image. For example, gphotoshow at
www.gphotoshow.com will cycle through all
the photos in a folder. Simply put your own photo in its own folder and it
will simply show the same image over and over again. Disable the transitions
though, or they will give away the game.
There are numerous other screensavers that will work just as well. Google on
"freeware photo slideshows" "freeware slideshow screensavers" or similar.
BTW another great joke is to take a screenshot of the dupe's desktop with
all the shortcuts. Next move all the shortcuts to a temporary folder, then
replace the desktop image with your screenshot. Watch your dupe go crazy
trying to figure out why his/ her desktop has suddenly gone "dead" as
clicking on the icons will have no effect. That's because they are clicking
on an image of the icon, not the shortcut itself. I used to play this one at
work to great effect.
