I have recently installed a Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 6000 and ever
since then the screen saver has not worked. I have checked all the settings
and am unable to find a reason why. Can anyone help?

This is regular problem if you use a microsoft wireless mouse or keyboard
and the Media 05...most forums have reported it. There isnt a fix as
yet but a couple of ways around it

Have a read of this http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;911895

On mine if I go to msconfig/startup and untick "ehtray" my screensaver will
work until I start the media centre 2005

Thanks for your help. I am a complete novice at this sort of thing so have
followed your link which suggests unticking DVDlauncher and PCMService in the
System Configuration Utility. I have done this and the screen saver now
worked. What are the other consequences of the action I have taken?

No problems...most programmes you untick from the System configuration
Utility only mean they wont start automatically when you boot up to desktop.
You can still start them manually as and when you need them. As a bonus it
does mean that you get to desktop quicker!!

I used the link and I do not have the files they said to uncheck during start
up. I clicked the update button that claims will fix the problem but that,
as typical, has done nothing. I have a MS wireless photo keyboard and mouse.
I have to unplug the receiver each time I get up from the computer or the
saver will not come on.

Any ideas?

BTW, why does microsoft not provide a phone number for tech support on their
products? Even an email would help if they'd respond.
