Screensaver Issue

I am having issues with my Windows XP screensaver. I have the screensaver
set to come on after 10 minutes of being idle and then I have it set to turn
the monitor off after 20 minutes. Most of the time, the screensaver will
come on, however something will trigger the computer to turn the screensaver
off before the time elapses to allow it to turn the monitor off. In an
attempt to figure out if the power management program was the issue, I set
the screensaver to 1 minute and the monitor off to 2 minutes, this worked!

I'm not sure if this is the problem, however occassionally a program box
with no name opens in task bar for a maximum of 2 seconds before
disappearing. Could this be the problem? Is there any way to figure out
what this program is and to possibly turn it off?

Go to Control panel > Sheduled tasks and see if something is sheduled ...

And try Event Viewer (Start > Run > eventvwr )

Hello,
Try Right clicking the mouse 9pointer/ARROW) any where on
the desktop. Empty area not on any icons.

Then under options- Click on Screen Saver- Then check the settings.
Wait -= 10 minutes
Check next to on Resume,display etc...
