While using Vista or Office, my screen size will change when trying to enter
new data, changing pages or just moving around on a page

Vista is your operating system. Office is an application suite. So what
you're saying is that using any application installed on your computer the
display size will change randomly? You haven't given us enough information
to help you directly, but I'd guess that your video card or monitor is
dying. There is no way to really know from the very little you wrote.

1. Desktop or laptop computer? Specs?
2. If desktop computer, what kind of monitor? Specs?
3. First question of troubleshooting: did things ever work correctly and if
yes, what changed?
4. Version of Vista? Preinstalled by computer mftr. or installed by you?

Remember that we can't see your computer and you need to describe things
clearly in order to get focused help.

While using Vista or Office,

Vista is the operating system under which everything you run,
including Office, runs. So you can't run Vista *or* Office. If you're
running Office, you're also running Vista.

Are you saying that this problem occurs whenever you run Office, or
whenever you run any application program? Or do you mean something
else?

Also, when you say "Office," do you mean "Microsoft Office," or some
other Office suite?

Sorry, I don't understand what "my screen size will change" means.
Please clarify exactly what happens.

Sorry, I was trying to post a short note rather than something long and
unneeded.

I have a Toshiba Satellite A135-S2386 laptop, purchased 7 months ago with
Vista installed. The Office program is Microsoft Office Home and Student. I
spent most of the time when the comoputer was new working in Office. I
noticed the problems shortly after I installed the Office program (purchased
within 2 weeks of getting computer.) The problem is that the size of the
screen will go from maximum to minimum or minimum to maximum without hitting
the change screen size box on the window. It can happen when trying to
scroll, when trying to enter data on Excel, when trying to close a
screen, etc. I thought that the problem was with the office program, and tried
several things athat were recommended by Microsoft. Nothing helped. Then,
when I finally started using the Internet, the same things occurred (Internet
Explore). I have finally gotten frustrated enough to post here to find a
solution. I hope this is enough information. If you need more, I will give it
to you.

Thanks

Almost enough, but not quite. So you mean that the window minimizes to the
taskbar or that the font size changes or that the screen resolution
changes? Once again, you must remember that we can't see what you are
seeing. You need to be very descriptive.

You have a laptop. Are you using an external mouse? If yes, which one? If
no, answer the questions I asked you above so I and others have a complete
understanding of what is happening to your computer.

If we can't figure it out from what you've written, have a knowledgeable
friend (someone who is really knowledgeable and not just saying they are)
or a competent computer tech take a look at the machine. Don't use someone
from BigComputerStore/GeekSquad; get recommendations from family, friends,
colleagues.

The screen size will change as if you were going from full screen to partial
and back. Like if you were clicking on the the change screen size button or
square at the upper right corner of the screen. And I am using the mouse on
the computer; no external.

How do I close my laptop without shutting down? When I just close the top and
open it lqter, my screen is 1-1.5 inches short on both sides.
