I have an Dell Latitude laptop with a Pentium 4 processor
and Windows 2000 Professional. When I log in under my
username I cannot select a screen saver under options. It
is greyed out. However, when I log in under Administrator
I can select any number of different screen savers. Is
there away to toggle this feature back on for my user
account?

It sounds like your "username" account is a member of the "USERS "group,
with more limited permissions than the "Power Users" group.

Log in as administrator, goto PROGRAMS/ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS/Computer
Management/Local Users and Groups/Users

You'll find the Local Users and Groups folder under the Computer Management
tree in the left pane of the Computer Management MMC .
Open the folder and you'll see a "Users" and a "Groups" folder appear, open
the "Users" folder to find your profile.

Select your "username" user profile and right click the user icon.
Next, chose "Properties" from the mouse menu, then the "username" property
sheet will open with 3 tabs.

Choose the "Member of" tab. A window inside the "Member of" property sheet
will display the groups you are a member of.
It should only display "Users" right now, as it seems you have limited
permissions.

Click the "Add" button at the bottom of the group window.

A "Select Groups" dialog will open listing all the groups available for you
to make the "username" user a member of.

Choose "Power User", then click the "add" button just below the window
listing all the groups. The group you "added" should now appear in the
window below.

Then click ok for the "Select Groups" dialog, and next on the Member Of "
property sheet. Close computer management, then log out as admin. Next, log
in as "username". You should be able to change screensavers.
