Screen Saver Issue on XP Home

Brian

I have a client using XP Home Edition who did some
routine Windows XP Updates today. Afterwards, (later on)
instead of returning to the desktop in Screen Saver, it
sends them now into the Welcome Page where they need to
click on the (icicle) icon to send them back into the
desktop.

This wasn't an issue before and the only thing I can
think of is that the MS Updates somehow altered the
screen saver procedure.

I've just spent an hour talking with them on the phone
checking all the power/standby options and everything
seems normal. In addition, I can't find any
documentation describing this in any MS sites.

How can they revert their screen saver back to directly
returning them the desktop as opposed to the Welcome
login page? Please help me.

Thanks,

Brian

Hi Brian,

Right click the Desktop/Properties/Screen Saver tab, look at the options
for your Screen saver and also Uncheck the "On resume, password protect"
option.

Also in the Monitor Power settings using the Power button. Look on the
Advanced tab, and the Options section, uncheck the "Prompt for password when
computer resumes from standby" option.
