My problem of no screen saver is still ongoing and I have a mouse that is
wired.
I guess I will just have to live with it.

As stated above, it is a Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse
4000.
I have already tried many things. I installed, unsinstalled and
reinstalled the included software when I first bought the mouse.
Then, I returned the mouse to the store, and bought another one
(Logitech). That didn't change the screensaver problem. So, I
returned the Logitech one, and rebought a MS one, as I liked it
better. I have tried going into msconfig, and disabling all the
startup programs. That didn't help. At one point, one suggestion I
got said to do something (can't remember now what it was), but that
doing that would erase all my restore points, but would bring back my
screensaver. That didn't work. I greatly regret doing that, because
if I had been smart, I could have just restored to an earlier point,
and it would probably have taken care of the problem. Back then, I
wasn't terribly familiar with restore points.
After that, I tried Kelly's tweaks, and that didn't help. I have
tried a few other things too, but can't remember all of them. I do
have Power DVD, do not have the ehtray thing, don't have any other DVD
program such as DVD launcher. My computer is not a Dell. I am fully
protected, updated regularly, and frequently scanned for viruses,
spyware and adware. I do automatic Windows updates. I do have SP2,
of course.
Any suggestions? I am still quite baffled by the fact that it works
under my guest account. Any ideas why it would do that?
Thanks so much for trying to help!
Likely reason is the Guest Account has limited access to the PowerDVD
software. The ultimate fix is to remove it.
The screen saver does not start after you install the Wireless Optical
