Screen Saver Become Slow

When my screen saver, a 3-D text, comes on it almost doesn't move. And when I try to return to my desktop, it takes several moves of the mouse to do so. Even then the 3-D text disappears and there is a long lag time before the desktop returns. Recently there appeared a balloon indicating low virtual memory. I've read about virtual memory, but not sure if this is the source of the screen saver problem. If it is, not sure how much I should raise my current virtual memory settings. Thanks for anyone's help on this

Mikadu, 3-D Screensavers put a heavy load on System Resources. So
depending on your system they may not work
effectively. You can try increasing your virtual memory. Rt click on
MyComputer>Select Properties>Advanced>
Performance>Advanced>Virtual Memory-Change. Click on Custom Size. type:
600 in each box and select Set , Ok.

Start/Control Panel (Classic View)/Performance and Maintenance/System/Advanced tab/Performance/Settings button/Advanced tab. Virtual Memory, change initial to 1 1/2 times RAM and Maximum to 3 times RAM. Click SET button and OK.
