Er, something of a silly option, is it not - 'I don't use a screen'

I mean, really, that's not even funny.

What, you got a brain/chip implant or something?

With LCD monitors becoming very popular the screen resolution is not an important consideration since the LCD panels work mainly based on native resolutions and the resolution is dictated by the size of the screen. A 15 inch LCD panel has 1024x768 and a 17 inch monitor has generally 1280 x 1024 native resolution and setting anything higher or lower is not advisable as it is detrimental to quality of the image.

Higher resolutions on small screens can be used only for playing games but for other work it becomes extremely difficult for anyone to work. The best resolution on a CRT monitor is one step down so that you can achieve good combination of resolution, color depth and refresh rate. This does not apply to LCD monitors as much.

Well i have an iiyama Vision Master pro 454 B revision

I have had it running at 2046x something or other...the maximum. Usually its 1600x1200

BUT im using 1280x1024@100 to help my eyes survive.

I got a Dell E151 TFT monitor, its pretty nifty. Though its only 15", it does the job. My res on it is 1024x768, I would like it bigger, as my start menu is in 3 column teratory :o.

Some people use projectors (They may have rezolution's but there not screens)
I don't have a sence of humer

A word of caution.

Setting a CRT monitor resolution over and above 'the recommended' will severely reduce the life expectancy of that monitor.

General rule of thumb:
14/15inch should be set to 800 x 600 x 75Hz
17/19inch should be set to 1024 x 768 x 85Hz
20/21inch should be set to 1280 x 1024 x 85/100Hz

Of course it will depend on if your graphics card can handle these resolutions, but anything over these settings can 'strain' your monitor.

Note:
Monitors need drivers just as do video cards.

I use a 15" laptop, it is impossible to use at 800x600. When i pulled the start menu up, it had to split itself into 5 collums, taking ALL of the screen, i am MUCH happier 1400x1050

i think my iiyama will easily hack 1600x1200 for years - look at its MAX resolution! 2somethingX1something
