I have just installed Windows 2000 from scratch on a
portable PC. I used a toolkit (PCToolsPro) to reformat
and repartition the drive, then installed Windows 2000
from a Windows 2000 set-up CD.
The installation went OK, except that the screen
resolution is now very poor - the maximum resolution is
800*600, and I am only allowed 16 colours. It looks like
it has installed a "default" display driver, which gives
very poor results.
How do I get a decent screen display? I believe the
notepad is a "Cybercom FID2030", but I can't an
appropriate web-site.

You'll need to find out what video card you're using, and go to the mfr's
website for the W2k driver. Contact the laptop manufacturer for help.
