I just got a 19" LCD monitor, the native resolution is 1280x 1024, I like it
at that setting. The monitor is made for it and the clarity is the best.
But my wife doesn't like things quite that small. She will settle for
1152x864.

Now the problem, an easy way to chance the resolution. No problem there are
some great utilities for this. (is you don't want to go thru the properties
screen)

But of course the desktop icons go to H, when I put it back to 1280x1024.
Once again there are utilities for this. No big deal.

But I can't find what I want, one utility that will do both. I can't
believe its not out there somewhere......

Help, anyone now where I can turn???

I'm getting tempted to just return the LCD and go back to using my 19" crt.
But Newegg.com will charge me a 15% restocking fee. OUCH !

When you say 'the desktop icons go to H', what do you mean? I am a software
writer and made an app recently for multiple user resolutions. If you can
explain, I will look into it.

Let me clarify the "H" comment. When you change from a high resolution to a
lower resolution, and then back to the higher resolution, all the desktop
icons are repositioned. This becomes a pain.

There are individual utilities to switch resolution and other utilities that
will record the icon positions and restore them. But I have been unable to
located a utility that will do both jobs at the same time. It seems to me
that this should not be a big deal. A utility that will remember desktop
icom postions at different resolutions.

Check with Kelly as she has a program that does just what you want to
do. I don't remember the name of the program but it is on download.com.

Not exactly what I wanted to do.

I have found numerous utilities to change screen resolution, but you always
need another utility to reset the icons back into their places.

I'm looking for one utility that will change between screen resolution,
while at the same time remembering the icon placements for each screen
resolution.
