screen problem

I am using a program with several function buttons across the top of the
screen and have been used to clicking the buttons and having that screen come
up as a smaller window in the restored down position. Now I cannot get this
to happen. When I click one particular button it goes straight to the task
bar. I can maximise it but cannot get it to go to the restored down position.
All other function buttons are OK.
Any help appreciated.

It's aligned offscreen, I suspect. Restore it, right-click the Taskbar,
click "Cascade windows", resize to your liking.
