I have had to reload windows. In doing so I reset my screen resolution.
Now, when the computer boots up I do not have anything but a black screen.
The computer is on and running, but I can' get anything to show up. My
computer is an inspiron 1150 laptop. It there anyway to reset this? I can
see the bios functions but that is it.

Go into Safe Mode by repeatedly tapping the F8 key as the computer is
starting. Use the arrow keys to select Safe Mode. Log into your user
account in Safe Mode and go to Control Panel>Display. Set the resolution
for something low like 1024x768. Now boot into Regular Mode by just
restarting the machine. Googling for "Inspiron 1150 native resolution"
tells me that 1024x768 is the correct setting so you shouldn't need to
do anything else.

Don't forget that you need to install drivers for all your hardware -
including the video - after you do a clean install of Windows. Get
drivers from Dell's tech support site for your specific model laptop.

Hi:
Try to boot in Enable VGA mode using F8. Then select the minimun resolution,
like 800 x 600, and reboot again, in normal mode. You should get your screen
back in that resolution. Other issue will be with your drivers.Try to
download the latest drivers for windows xp for your VGA card, as soon as you
get video sysnal. Normaly it is a issue with the range of resolution your
card and your monitor, or the drivers your are using.

I hope it helps
