Screen is short

I have a Dell 8100 with XP. I have a desktop full of shortcuts, plus a
taskbar full of icons. A few days ago I couldn't get a full screen on Web
sites---short on three sides. I do get a full screen with View---Full screen
or with F11, but why should I have to do this. Thanks for any help.

Are you saying that you open your web browser (unnamed at this time - I
could assume Internet Explorer, but what version? Or is it Firefox?
Opera? Other?) and visit a web page and when you try to press the
"Maximize" button in the top rightmost corner of the browser window - it
does not fill up your entire screen?

I use IE 7. Hitting Maximize and also using the double-sided arrows will
also fill the screen. I always use desktop shortcuts to get to the Web. But
shouldn't that automatically give a full screen? Or must I always hit
Maximize, F11, Views--Full screen, or arrows?

As far as I know, Internet Explorer will open in the state you last closed
it in (unless told - by command line or other means - to do otherwise)...

For your shortcuts - as you will see - you simply right-click on them,
choose proerties and change them so they open "Maximized" as opposed to
Normal or Minimized...

Manually stretch the windows the 1st time; and they should stay that way.
Stretch, not maximise.
