Probably your game uses a different resolution and when you exit its not
resetting to original resolution.
This could be caused by a badly coded game, a game not designed for winxp,
or a problem with your display drivers

Disable the screen saver before starting the game - this normally only
happens on older games where you don't use the keyboard or where they
don't pass the keyboard actions through to the std keyboard driver.

thanks for the response... but the screen saver was none... appreciate any
other ideas... thanks Rainy

I will try reinstalling the driver.. it does use a different resolution...
the game was working fine until yesterday.. so I don't think it's the
game... been playing it on xp for about a year... thanks Rainy

Hi.. I think somethng is wrong with the graphics card.. but I am no expert..
the display is short on one side.. and it seems to be tall and skinny
instead of stretching to each side, and top and bottom.. also text is
larger.if it's not the graphics card what can I do to fix this. or if it
is.. I have a Nividia Geforce FX 5200.. is that expensive to replace... Oh
yes I tried to update the driver, but xp would not let me, said what I was
trying to replace was not better... or something to that effect, any help
really appreciated... thanks so much.. Rainy

Rainy,
Get your driver here:

From the site:

Driver Installation Hints

"Download Accelerator" utilities should be disabled when downloading any
drivers.

Do not run virus protection software in the background while installing the
drivers. This prevents the driver from configuring itself properly.

Before installing new drivers make sure you uninstall all NVIDIA display
drivers from the Windows Control Panel. Browse to the Start Menu > Windows
Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and search for "NVIDIA Windows Display
Drivers" or "NVIDIA Display Drivers" and select remove

Thanks so much.. I was able to replace the driver.. and the screen
resolution is now ok... appreciate the help very much.. I thought I was
going to have to buy a new graphics card and on my limited income.. that
would be difficult at best... :) thank You so much! I think you have
helped me before... :) Rainy

Your welcome. Glad you got it fixed. I read the group on a regular basis
and help when I can. I've learned so much here it's nice to be able to
give a little back.
