I have an HP Pavilion ze5185 with a 15' Mobility M6
screen.

Intermittently, my screen flickers really bad, to the
point where you can hardly read anything........and
sometimes even turns to thick verical lines of solid
colors.

External monitor is unaffected.

Sometimes putting the computer into stand by and turning
it back on again cures it (temporarily) but other times
it does not.

What do you think could be the source of these
problems? It is a laptop computer, but it has never
been abused. I don't think its some sort of loose
connection or anything like that, based on the fact that
with it sitting still on my desk it will switch between
working and not working.

I was wondering if it was some sort of software
corruption, perhaps backing up my data and restoring the
hard disk would be a fix?

Open to suggestions.........I appreciate your help.

There is a florescent light behind the LCD, it may be going
bad causing a flicker, Also there could be other damage to
the wiring or the LCD.

But the power to the light or the bulb itself is my guess.

Hope it is still under warranty.
