screen flashing

my computer is not working well I'm 10 and have not much experience. I have tried to go back in time to an earlier point on my computer but it will not let me go back. Please help

because the screen started flashing I buy a Norton virus 2004 and download it, after I have downloaded it I scan my PC, it comes up with a box PROGRAM CONTROL wupdater.exe is attempting to connect to DNS server,another sync.exe etc, infolders.exe anyway the virus checker cannot delete them and tells me to in safe mode though their program path which I did, but now my computer has not much on it, I have tried to do a system restore but it will not let me this item is highlighted in the systems tools? what should I do please help?
 
wupdater should be allowed to access the internet...It is the Windows Update
Utility. Are you sure you have the proper video card drivers and monitor
drivers installed?
