Screen capture with annotations

Hi,

I'm looking for a screen capture freeware that allows adding annotations
directly to the images, without opening them in another editor. By
"annotations" I mean basic graphics, like highlights, arrows and text boxes
(I'm checking interfaces in software localization projects, so this would a
great time saver).

Thanks.

Just about any graphics program that has a screen capture feature
should do it and most do. I would check the features and help file of
the graphics suite you are currently using and you may find you have
what you need already.

Failing that, you might try MWSnap -- I used to use it, loved it, and *if*
I remember correctly, it had at least some of those features you seek.

That's the thing - I don't want/need a resource heavy (possibly also
expensive) graphics suite. All I need is a small utility for screen capture
+ annotations. Something that will allow me to send a pic to the developer
saying "these radio buttons are not aligned", or "Capitalize the dialog box
title". I very much like screen capture utilities that are small and nimble,
yet configurable, like MWSnap. Which graphics suite sits in your systray
without hogging resources?
The one software, that I know can do what I need, is 20/20 from
www.hotfreeware.com, but it is ad-supported, and a bit outdated also.
Check it out to see what I mean.

Well, all you actually need is a small utility for annotations. *Any*
graphics
software will do the screenshot thingy. For instance, hit the 'print screen'
key, open Irfanview and edit | paste. Of course Iview won't do any
annotations though.

I do believe I have found the solution. This screen capture utility
hooks MS Paint so you can edit right from the utility. Pretty nifty.

Trust me on this, use the direct link.

AFTER the Paste in IrfanView ....

Drag a rectangle around a spot to be annotated ....

Edit .... Insert text into selection ....

Provides annotation ....

This is more advanced than MWSnap, but it's more bloated. It can do lots of
annotations.

I found out about it from Fabulous Freeware
