Screen capture utility?

We are about to deploy Windows 2000 at my work place which means
creating new documentation for lots of stuff. I plan to use MWSnap for
this purpose, however, it lacks things like being able to place a red
outline around a menu item or having extendible arrows. After hunting
for a couple of hours, I found this freeware program called 20/20 (
http://www.hotfreeware.com/2020/2020.htm). It seems to work OK: takes
some getting use to and seems to do everything I want. The downsides
are that it mentions something about installing ads on your system? I
don't see any ads in the file outputs, so maybe it means it means it
installs spyware or something. I ran Spybot and it found nothing. The
other downside is that I cannot copy what I see on the screen to the
clipboard: I have to save it to a file first, then import it. Any
suggestions?

I would also like to make a standard template for technical
documentation in Word format. Any ideas on that?

Thanks,
Adam

I use the printscreen key, copy into a paint type package and then select
the parts that I want/don't want, copy into memory and then paste into word
or publisher to make the sort of illustrated idiot guides for our staff.

PowerPoint would be an excellent software to do exactly what you want. I
used PowerPoint to write tutorials, together with Print Screen. You can use
different capture schemes like user-defined rectangles, circles and many
more, and you can export images directly to PowerPoint or MS Word. Software
Labs has a free (gold) version, but I use the platinum version myself. You
can read more at www.software.com

Other screen capture apps. are Gladwin PrintScreen or Screen Hunter, but I
haven't tried them.

Thank you for your suggestion, but when I run the program, it says it is corrupted.

Are you running Windows XP-if you are, you need to delete the
bdesktop.exe.manifest file in the folder where you installed Babya System
to, or rename bdesktop.exe.manifest to something like
'bdesktop.exe.old-bDesktop will run OK after you do this-see this faq:
http://babyasystem.portal.dk3.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=FAQ&file=index
&myfaq=yes&id_cat=7&categories=Babya+System+12 -gives you instructions on
how to do this
