I have 3 win98 clients connecting to a windows2000 server. Its a small 11
computer network, the rest of the systems run XP. All work is done through
the terminal server sessions. We use the latest Remote desktop client,
connect to the server and they are off and running. At some point, all the
98 systems terminal session screens either go totally black, or black out
much if not all the screen. The only way to get around this is for them to
disconnect from the session and get back in. For good measure, I have them
reboot their computers. I also, formatted and reinstalled win98 on one of
the desktops, and that seemed to work great for a bit, but now its doing the
same thing. Any idea's? The WinXP machines seem to be working fine.

I had the same issue here, so i upgraded the computers to win2k, i mucked
around with all kinds of tcp/ip and other settings to no avail and i was
left with no other option people were complaining too much and it was
cheaper to just pay for the upgrades (after a few weeks of that happening
every day or a couple of times a day)

I wodul like a solution but i doubt it will happen i couldnt find any info
on this when i had the problem and the IT consultants i talked to had never
heard of it before.

I was troubleshooting a similar issue a while ago with
some people and we determined that this may be fixed by
changing the display drivers on the client, or by changing
the color resolution that the client computer is set to.
Have either of you tried either of these solutions to see
what happens?

It was happening on about 20 different computers with about 5 different
cards (two were hp e-vectra celeron 400's) and all of them had the same
issue so i never thought that drivers might be causing it. If i can find
some different drivers for the cards in the 3 PCs left running 9x ill give
it a go, doubt it though.
