Scoll bar settings

Does anybody know how to change the setting for the scroll
bar? I recently installed Office XP over Office 2000 on
an XP Pro. system. Prior to this, a click between the
buttons in the scroll bar area moved me down a bit less
than a full screen -- that's good and what I want. Now,
however, it does more than that, at least 1-1/2 screens,
and sometimes just goes wild all the way to the bottom of
the document and can't be stopped...

I've asked Microsoft to help, but they are not getting
back to me after several days wait. This is important; I
do a lot of online research (paralegal) and need to be
able to read documents easily.

Thanks.

it's a bug in the recent update you did this week.
read other scroll bar posts for more info.

try using the up/down arrows
pageup/pagedown also are handy.
or if your mouse has center wheel
set wheel in mouse properties window controlpanel.

between the two double arrows in the scroll bar, you should have a button,
click on it and you'll see choices about how to scroll. I'm talking about
Word in Office xp, I hope that answers your question.

Thanks. Cool feature, actually. This seems to be on the
right track, but doesn't deal with the whole issue. I
have the problem in Outlook and IE as well, since I
installed Ofice XP over Office 2000. In IE, I sometimes
have wild behavior (scrolling on and on til I click in the
page to stop it).

I think/hope there is someplace where the behavior of teh
scroll bar can be adjusted, much like the mouse -- but I
can't find anything like that in control panel or device
manager.

And thanks to the other poster; yes, I am clear that this
is something which happened as a consequence of the
installation -- but I was careful to tell the install
program to save my existing setting.

And (damn) it is doing it here/now, weird behavior when
clicking in the scroll bar on this window...

Anyway, thanks. Any more help possible would be greatly
appreciated. Microsoft has told me I only have two free
incident support sessions with them, and this is going to
burn one of those up.

Thanks all.

Yeah, and thanks. I've been through 6 versions of Windows
(3.1; 95; 98; 98SE; ME; XP, and DOS before that), and I've
never had this problem. I know I can use the arrow
buttons and that's what I've been doing -- but that's
slow, and even that needs adjustment so that it goes by,
say, only two lines per click -- and more to the point I
shouldn't have to accept degraded performance after buying
some rather pricy software.

Sorry to vent... I'm in the middle of a high-pressure
project and DO NOT NEED THIS!
