We are working on an upgrade from Windows 2000 and Exchange 2000 on large environment.(40 Domain Controller in 40 location) We were trying a rollback procedure after having prepared the forest for Exchange 2003 and Windows 2003. I looked for documentation on Microsoft and what I found out is that probably there is no way to return to original situation? That is also due to the fact that between step you should allow replication to occur to avoid schema conflict, and all dc have the right to write to the schema even if you do an authoritative restore. Any help would be appreciate.

What are the reason for rollback the extended schema?

There is no way to "roll back the Schema" per se.

The only way to roll back the Schema is to do a System State Restore with a
back taken before the the Schema update of every domain controller in the
Forest at the same time.

But from the sounds of it you are in a very large domain and I would not
recommend such actions.

Why are you wanting to remove the Schema Updates?

Hi, it is a very large environment, there is actually one very important
application that doesn't work properly after schema upgrade. Moreover when we
upgrade the forest for Exchange 2003 the application stop working then if we
upgrade the forest for Windows 2003 is start working again!? We know that the
problem is the application but we did wan't to give to the customer and
rollaback procedure for disaster recovery! Are you aware of some permission
that Exchange 2003 forestprep set that maybe Windows 2003 change?

Thank you for precious help
