Is there a way to schedule Avast? It doesn't have a scheduler like AVG and
when I try to schedule using WinXP it will only open the program not run it.
A third party scheduler?
Regards
Dave

It checks for update each time you log-on and it's open.

Hi Jim
I mean to run the actual program not update the database. Scheduling the
program to run at a certain time each day is available in the Pro
(Commercial) version but not the Home (Freeware) version (See the help file,
it has a table listing comparative features.).

The only way to do it from within the program is with the enhanced user
interface which is available only if you upgrade to the commercial
version. You can read the Help file under "Tasks".
So, not only is it "time-limited freeware". It is also "crippleware".
Hence the "OT" added to the subject header. Sux to do that. Because I
like it also.
Perhaps you can try alt.comp.anti-virus.
Sorry it took so long to respond. I didn't see this post until a few
minutes ago. Good luck.
