Hi,

We have a Win2k stand alone server with some scheduled
tasks setup. Last week I could view them remotely, but
now I can't. The only thing I think I did was add a new
task (first I tried to copy and paste and existing task I
wanted to run at different times).

My user is in the admin group, the System account has
access to root install drive. I've check heaps of
knowledge base articles and news group postings but none
seem to have the answer.

Can anyone help?

Diana,

I have checked out this article and many others.

Essentially I type in \\unc and I connect to the remote
system correctly. I can see printers and any appropriate
shares on the system. What I can't see are the scheduled
tasks. I have tried chaning the permissions on the tasks
and folders on the server without success (eg
c:\winnt\tasks). Including making the root drive (c:)
fully accessabile to all users, especially the
administrator, everyone and system groups.

When the tasks were visible the time to display the remote
computer was much quicker. Now it spends a lot of time
looking for the tasks. I have found many articles on
suppressing the searching, but none about why I can't see
them anymore.

I'm definately a member of the administrator group, and
several other accounts we have setup as admin's can't see
them either. It's like I've managed to stop everyone
seeing the tasks remotely. I've tried the security
settings but nothing seems to be it. The server is in a
workgroup without domains.

Do you or does anyone have another suggestion?

Stephen

We are having the same problem. Seems like we only lost the ability to see the "scheduled tasks" and "Printers" after an upgrade to 2003. The problem is on every machine we upgrade. On a side note, the "printers" icon started showing up after adding a printer, sharing it, and deleting it. I don't know if there is some fix like this for the tasks or not.
