Hi All,

I am looking to shut down all the PC's on my ntwork (1500) at a
scheduled time each night so I can reduce running costs and lower our
company carbon footprint. I may even like to start up the PC's in the
morning before users arrive at work...does anyone know some good
software / application that will allow me to acheive this? don't want
to use scripts or batch files...too messy.

Thanks.

Brian.

Scheduled tasks is one way. remote shutdown is another, remote start up
will require wake on lan, or timed wakeup to be set in the BIOS

Whichever method you use, keep in mind that sooner or later someone will
work late. You need to provide for a mechanism that will not shut down his
machine, e.g. while he's having a late snack in the company canteen with a
few hours of unsaved work on his PC.

Thants an excellent point.....I have been looking at nightwatchman
which saves user data before the PC is shutdown which is very handy.

If you plan on shutting down every night at a scheduled time, you just need to notify the employees that a scheduled shutdown is going to take place every night so all employees will have been warned.
