When I try to schedule MSAS to run anytime (daily, weekly, anything) it will
say it works and was saved, but when I go back to the summary it says I still
need to schedule a scan. In addition when I schedule updates they will save
and the summary will reflect that it's setup correctly, but when I close and
reopen the application it says I'm not setup to update anymore.

I'm not on a 24 hour clock, and I have version 1.0.615.

I'd do this:

1) uninstall Microsoft Antispyware
2) delete the \program files\microsoft antispyware folder and all subfolders

you will lose access to any quarantined items, history, and customized
settings

3) reinstall Microsoft Antispyware, taking care to be logged in as the
administrator user that will customarily use the program.

Did you remember to click the "Update Schedule" button located right below
the "Disable..." checkbox?
