Hi

I want to move a group of users every monday to a different OU, does anybody
know a way to do this by scheduling it, rather than manually doing it every
week.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply Laura but, I am using Win2000 servers and AD. I
installed the support tools for both w2k and w2k3. When I try to run DSmove
from the w2k tools, I get an error saying it is an unrecognised command, and
when I try to run the W2k3 tools it says that it will run only on XP or later.
I was trying to run it on a DC, is that right??

Are you moving the users between two different OUs or is it a different one
every time. Let me know and I'll post the script you'll want to use.

Thanks for reply Ryan.

I have users in one OU, which they should stay in, but they need to be moved
to a different OU for a period of time and then back again.
The reason they need to be moved is so a new Group Policy to take affect for
a couple of hours.

Hope this explains my problem, thanks in advance for your help

SBY,

Just going to jump in for a second. And I am speaking only to this specific
post - not any of the others!

It is *generally* a bad idea to be moving user account objects or computer
account objects from one OU into another - for the sole purpose that these
user account objects or computer account objects will fall under the SOM of
a particular GPO - and then back into their 'home' OU.

SBY,

Cary is right, it sounds like you are trying to do something that may not be
happening in the best way. You might want to consider a scheduled task run
as another user (an admin, for example). You could even use a utility like
SANUR to store user name and password in a batch for batch scripts.

I'll post the script to the move later today (after work), but you should
think really hard before implementing it.
