I know it's not tax season, but does anyone know of a free tool that, given
a set of buy/sell data, will produce a Schedule D suitable for filing income
tax. In my case, I'm thinking of using the data that can be downloaded from
an Ameritrade account. Thanks, in advance.

You can just use any spreadsheet program to present the data, label
the cells in the same manner as the lines and columns on Schedule D,
and write in "see attached sheet" on the actual Schedule D, at least
on those lines and those columns where you want to have the
spreadsheet print-out present the data.
