How do I schedual a regular defrag of my computer using
Windows XP. We only use it for email and some web surfing
and a company VPN so how often should I do this?

Thanks,

To schedule any programs to run goto Control Panel > Scheduled Tasks > and
add a program with recurance you want to schedule and otehr details.
In your case probably it's god to defrag disk every other week.

Create a Scheduled Task for any program, then open the Properties of
the new task. Overwrite the command-line with one for DEFRAG that fits
your needs. For help with the DEFRAG command, type
DEFRAG /?
at a DOS prompt.

Stewart;

To run Disk Defragmenter as a Scheduled Task, go to
Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Scheduled Tasks/Add Scheduled Task.
Enter DEFRAG.EXE C: -F where C is the drive you wish to defragment.

The -F switch forces defragmentation of the volume regardless of whether it
needs to be defragmented.
