I have the Microsoft spyware installed on my computer.
Each time I scan my files it only shows that it scans
about 30,000 files. I have approximately 135,000 files
on my computer, are these file being scanned?

No. However, the product scans enough files to perform better in
comparative tests than any other product, so I'm confident they are scanning
the files they need to.

I'm having the same problem, sort of. The program gets
to 22,300 some odd files and then freezes and has to be
ended.

Please try scanning with an alternative product--Lavasoft's Ad-aware, or
Spybot Search & destroy. Do this in safe mode.

Once they've cleaned well, retry with Microsoft Antispyware.

At the moment, there are some specific bugs which Microsoft Antispyware
chokes on.

There may also be situations in which an apparent hang is just a long
processing time. You mighty try letting the scan run, if possible.

I tried ccleaner out.
It seems to work, but I didn't go look to see how squeeky clean everything
was. I did observe a subscript out of range every time I tried the registry
cleaning operations. Didn't matter how many or how few items,--still got an
error. Not confidence-inspiiring when dealing with the registry. (but no
ill-effects either, and it did stop reporting anything left to be cleaned
after a while.)

Well, Ccleaner is moderate and about "subscript out of
range" this is
a GUI function beacuse when you start fix issues, you get a
green text "issues fixed".
If you press again on fix issues instead of closing you get
subscript warning.

Tips, mark one issue, right click for check all ;)

It is much more dangerous with manual regedits for normal
users...........
