Scanning photos + metadata

I have been inserting meta-data into files for a while now, especially image
files. Today I did a load of scanning, I scanned knitting patterns believe it
or not, with all the codes on the front of the knitting patern and the
company name it got me thinking that as I have to enter this in text format
why not have the software auto convert this to text and input it into the
meta-data of the file.

I was scanning at 300pdi, this is the minimum for most OCR software. I think
an option should allow a single click process that not only scans the image
as normal but provides the user with a windows showing the text it will
insert from the image, allowing for mistakes to be corrected and accepted.
This feature should therfore be built into windows scanning software, it
already exists in different apps.

Imagine, with a single click I could get all that text info at once without
having to spend more time doing a seperate process when it could all be done
at once.
