AIRMARK OH

Good day everyone,

When I scan a document, the printed result is a light color.I would the color
to be as the print in this message, readable. I've search everywhere in the
help menus but can't seem to find what I'm searching for. ..... When I scan a
document, the scanner automatically saves to PDF format and to the hard drive
but when I go to preview, it is very light. It's not the printer because all
other documents seem to be fine (I can view them in full black font color).

2nd question: How do I scan document text so that I can make revisions? I've
tried scanning the document every which way but the result is like an image
and not text. I've change settings I've done it all. I need to know what I'm
doing wrong.

Hope to hear from someone soon.

Thank you.

Make sure you're scanning in grayscale, not 1-bit. Fiddle with the
brightness and contrast settings in your scanner application, or take
the TIFFs you get from your scanner, open them in Gimp (
http://gimp.org/ , Free image editor, not quite Photoslop but it'll do)
and fiddle with the brightness and contrast settings there until your
image looks more like what you want.

What's the name of the application you're using to do your scanning?

Change your application's settings so that it doesn't do that but saves
images as TIFFs instead. Once an image has been turned into a PDF, it's
somewhat difficult to get that image back into an editable format.

You need an OCR (Optical Character Recognition) application.
Unfortunately, all the decent ones are commercial, so you'll have to buy
or warez a copy. Popular packages include Omnipage, Typereader, and
Finereader. These pieces of software take TIFFs and try to recognize
characters on those TIFFs, then spit out text or RTF files that contain
all those characters. OCR is never perfect, even on really clean text,
it makes errors that you'll have to edit out by hand if you want to get
an exact copy of the original.

Upgrade to a Real OS. If you can't do that, 'Doze2K is preferable to
'Doze9x in almost every respect. HTH,

Thank you so much for your input... I will fiddle with it.

Have a great day!
