Scanning 3-D objects

I purchased an HP Scanjet G4050 with the intent of scanning small objects
such as flowers. I find the depth of field EXTREMELY limited, does anyone
know of any technique or modification that might extend the DOF ? Thanks...

AFAIK, there is no practical way to increase the DOF of a flat-field
scanner. A good way to get what you are after is by using a camera with
macro capabilities.
