I have an HP PSC750 that simply refuses to scan.
I can copy, and I can print, but I can't scan.

They indicate that there's an updated scanner.sys file that I need for XP,
because of a problem where if the scanner isn't the first device in a
multiple device, the existing drivers in windows fail to detect it.

Anyone know where I can get that update?

Hello

Well have you tried goign to www.hp.com and looking up your
scanner model and type and see if they have updated drivers for it

Yes, I have the latest drivers loaded.
This scanner.sys file is supposed to be a windows XP update, but it's not
included in any of the online updates. Windows update tells me there's
nothing available, and the HP guy tells me you have to get it from MS, but
he dosen't know how you get it...

Most irritating.

Hi Dave -

I believe the file you are looking for is an updated version of usbscan.sys.

Microsoft describes your problem exactly and there is a replacement version
of usbscan.sys available to correct it. Check the following article on
Microsoft's Knowledge Base:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;320549&Product=winxp

(link may wrap)

In any event, the fix is not available for download - you have to contact
Microsoft Support directly to obtain it. If you are only requesting the
updated driver file there will be no charge from Microsoft Support in order
to obtain it (you simply explain that you need the fix because you have a
multi-function device where the scanner is not the first interface of the
device and they will supply the driver for you via e-mail).

Hopefully this helps to fix your problem.
