Scanner tawin fails to work after IE7 & updates this month.

Scanner is Canoscan 3000F using scangear driver SG8.3.0.0
Stopped working this month after installing IE7 and updates this month.
Twain has broken basically.
1) Have unistalled drivers usings canons deldrv tool, Untinstalled Canoscan
toolbox 4.1.
2) Deleted any hidden device drivers both under imaging devices and under
other, including all USB ports / hubs.
3) Deleted temporary files & and Canoscan related files.
4) Removed any references to Canoscan in Registy
5) Reboot
6) Install SG8.3.0.0 driver & Toolbox 4.1 & Reboot
7) Connect scanner, scanner found.
8) Start Toolbox select Canoscan 3000F twain driver
9) try to scan scanner hangs - then twain error
Something in the updates has altered how the canoscan driver works hence
thats why it stopped. Normally with twain errors they are fixable, but these
ones are not, even tried variouse Canon Golbal downloads - no good.
*Scanner Hardware is good, because if you install the WIA MS driver instead
& from Accessories/Scanner wizard I can run it ok. But I need to be able to
use the canon twain driver for the other features.
It appears either the update of IE7 or the hot fixes this has had this
effect as no other software was installed when it broke.

Any ideas most welcome ....
 
Fixed it.
3000F had intermitant issues with USB all of a sudden even with WIA driver.
Disposed of 3000F and purchased new 8400F, all works a treat.

Guess they only last three years these days.
