I am opening an engraving/awards/recogntion business. Among the items I
would like to offer are engraved photos on various materials, as well as
promotional "logo" items for companies.
To do this, I need a decent scanner. I have been looking at the epson
perfection 3170 and hp scanners have been recommended as well.
Would an optical resolution of 2400 be enough?

Thank you

I think that the Epson Perfection 4870 PHOTO would be a better choice for a
business. The 4870 is 4800 dpi optical.

Why do you think it wouldn't be? Are your engravings actually going to
have anything like the resolution of the original photo, let alone
several times higher? Just guessing, but I don't think resolution is
the highest priority for your particular application.

Thanks Kennedy,
It is a valid point that I had not considered. You are right on the
mark.
