Yes, the software works fine. The IT8 Targets are made by Wolf Faust.
You cannot use these profiles with VueScan because VueScan accepts only
its own profiles.
I think the DL-C scanner profiling software is based on lcms. Therefor I think
the results should be quite good.

Sometimes I get confused about where I'm posting...

I don't have any experience with DLC or their products,
but I've tried several of the "other" products in this
category. Of these, the real standout is Profile Prism.
(www.ddisoftware.com) Highly recommended.

Vuescan profiling is also based on lcms. It depends on what features
are used...
