Hi!

Maybe someone can help me:

I tried to install a Brother printer/scanner on Windows 2000. When
installing the scanner part with the inf-file I get the following error
message (translated from German): "Missing part in the inf-file!"

Additionally, I noticed that when I go to the "Control Panel ->
Scanner/cammeras->Add", there is no reaction at all - no error, no
wizard, just nothing.

Every hint is welcome.

Cheers,
Bernd

What model scanner is it?

The Scanner wizard doesnt apply to many scanners

It is the Brother DCP-7025. But I think it is a more general problem,
since the "Add" button in the Scanner/camera dialog doesn't even open a
wizard. Nothing happens if I press the button.

There's an uninstall tool to remove a bad install of this scanner

http://global.solutions.brother.com/Library/en_us/faq/faq000071_001/index.html

and here is the full software and driver package that you'll have to install
to get it all working as it's a multi function device, it's some 141mb

I tried this already several times, both using USB and the parallel
port. Actually, I returned the printer/scanner by now because I did not
get it to work. But now I suspect that it was not a Brother-related but
rather a general scanner-related problem. And before buying another
scanner, I am looking for a general solution.

My personal preference has always been for seperate devices rather than all
in one ones.

USB scanners are quite inexpensive nowadays, as are printers (although the
runnings costs are'nt)
