Hi there,

I make hand bound copper covered books and I am looking for a scanner so
I can make images of them to put up on my website and email to clients.
The books range in size from 4" by 7" up to 12" by 15" and they can be
up to 2" thick. Can anyone recommend a scanner that is easy to use on a
PC and gives accurate color images? Is any scanner good enough for my
needs? Does price matter?

Thanks,

Tim

Any reasonably up to date scanner should be fine. All you would need
even for critical work is 300 dpi. Epson makes good scanners. If the
originals are big, scan in parts and join the parts using Panorama
Factory.

Alternatively, you could use a digital camera capable of close-up
work. Then you woudn't be limited to a flat image. You could show the
books on different backgrounds, open to an interesting page, or a
couple together, but a scanner is a lot cheaper.
