FYI: There are scanner focusing issues with Vuescan 8.4.38 and my
Canon FS4000US dedicated film scanner based on my recent testing.
Manual focusing works okay and I believe a fix is in the works. I
don't know if other film scanners are also affected, but check to see
if you are getting grain/dye clouds in focus on your scans.

Lately I have also observed some grain problems with vuescan. I re-
scanned some slides and they came out much more grainy and less sharp.
It is a 100 ISO Fuji slide film - normally I see no grains at all on
8x12 inch (A4) print.
I observed also that prints are grainy as well and some viewers shows
grains too - but some other viewers did not show grain?

Can you post examples? Generally a grainer scan should appear more
sharp not less.

Can you rescan a slide you were happy with using your current settings
and see if it looks any different? With Vuescan you can rename the
Vuescan folder and simultaneously run multiple versions.

Vuescan 8.3.39 fixes a focusing problem with the FS4000US. I only
tried a few scans but it seems to work much better.
