SCanner bulb replacement: HP OfficeJet T45

I have an ageing T45 all-in-one scanner/printer/fax.

The scanner bulb is not working.

HP no longer ships spares for this, and I can't find a service manual
anywhere.

HP's website has the user's manual, but no service manual, and the parts
catalog shows only a full scanner assembly.

Can anybody help me out by pointing me to a service manual, or by
describing the procedure and giving me the name of a supplier of suitable
bulbs?

It's probably a CCFT, you might be able to get a similiar sized
replacements from various electronics sources. But the issue is it
may not be the CCFT that's burned out but the inverter that is.
Inverter is a real bitch to try and fix without schematic and it's a
major shock hazard while it's powered up, I've zapped myself
accidently once. A longer 12" CCFT (3mm dia, used in most letter
sized scanners) can have around 600v running through the inverter.

If the inverter is the problem, getting it fixed is a major headaches
as some parts are often unlabeled and the transformer may be custom
designed and you'd need to do a major modification to the inverter
board to install a new transformer.

Unless you're an electronics expert, are handy with multimeters, have
osciloscope for diagnosing the inverter, and can draw schematic on the
fly and figure it out yourself, you're better off just getting a new
scanner. Stand alone USB scanner is under $30 these day and uses LED
for long life or you could go for the whole multifunction printer for
about $100 or so.

Bottom line: it's not worth it and it'd probably cost more if you paid
someone to fix it than a new multi printer. Don't get Epson printer
though, my brother has one that quit printing after its original ink
tank ran out and they tried replacing it with Epson brand ink.
