I run xp home sp3. IE7. 2 mhz athlon 64.
Just curious why my canoscan N650U activates and gets ready to scan whenever
I save a notebook text file to Mydocuments?
Have I set up something wrong? It never used to do that.
Sorry I can't tell you if it started occuring right after the
installation/uninstallation af a particular program or update.

how did you save a notebook text file to your "mydocuments"?
via IE7, via Windows Explorer, via notepad, via MS Word, via
commandline or what?

what happens on locations other than your "mydocuments"?

I have a file open in notepad. I click "file"-"save as". (My documents is
the only place I ever save text files.) Thats when the scanner makes noise
like it's about to do something, except it never does.

Check your registry (run "regedit") and browse to
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\txtfile

See if any bonus entry that would associate with
invoking your scanner/printer.

Alternatively, skip the trouble-shooting if you do regular backup;
just restore your OS from a previously working backup.
